From early 2013, ATG consolidated its waste contracts to be run under one company; First Mile, a carbon neutral company. From day one First Mile were able to offer a zero to landfill waste service and increased recycling levels, with our London venues now achieving 97-99% recycling rates and the remainder going to waste to energy. ATG strive to imbed continual improvement in terms of waste and recycling management, with all waste types now collected by First Mile or their approved sub-contractors. Hazardous waste such as batteries, light bulbs and e-waste is managed and disposed of responsibly, along with confidential waste. Food waste collection services continue to be rolled out across the Group, significantly increasing recycling levels further. Our venue teams adopt the reduce-reuse-recycle mantra, even identifying the commercial opportunity in selling old iron and pipe work which would normally have been thrown away.

As a customer of First Mile we support their chosen charity Small Steps, who work to help children and their families who currently live and work on landfill sites around the world, providing them with shoes, medication and a chance to go to school.

In 2010, ATG was awarded a Silver National Recycling Stars Award, and following the successful implementation of the new waste contract in 2013 we received a Gold National Recycling Stars Award. ATG was also a shortlisted finalised in the National Recycling Awards 2015.
