  • The Regent Theatre originally opened in 1929 as a super-cinema, with the foyer and auditorium luxuriously decorated in the art deco style. The theatre’s first presentation was a silent film, The Last Command.
  • In 1999, following a three year, £23 million redevelopment, The Regent Theatre was reopened by Her Majesty the Queen.
  • As a number one touring venue, The Regent Theatre is capable of taking the largest touring productions and has already played host to the very best opera, dance, drama and musicals, direct from Broadway and the West End.
  • Recent shows have included War Horse, Ghost, Mamma Mia!, Sister Act, Northern Ballet and English Touring Opera.


The Regent Theatre is a restored art deco theatre boasting a stunning 1619 seated domed auditorium. The Regent Theatre is available to hire for concerts & functions, AGM’s, one-night performances and a range of larger scale events. With the dedicated box office, marketing and technical teams, national website and brochure, as well as four bar areas, green room and 13 dressing rooms this is the perfect venue to host events large and small.
