Richmond Theatre

Opened: 1899
Capacity: 864 seats

  • Richmond Theatre is one of the most beautiful of the Frank Matcham theatres, with a perfect setting on Richmond Green.
  • Refurbished in 1991, it is best known for high quality drama, though it also presents opera, dance, comedy and a much loved pantomime each year.
  • Recent plays which have transferred to the West End include Relatively Speaking with Felicity Kendal, Fences with Lenny Henry, Jeeves and Wooster with Stephen Mangan. Each Christmas it stages a popular, traditional pantomime.

Conceived by the renowned theatre architect Frank Matcham, Richmond Theatre is an architectural gem of the Victorian era. The theatre can boast a choice of hire spaces of different capacities. We are a licenced wedding venue, can cater for conferences for up to 800 in our main auditorium, smaller meetings in our Upper Circle Bar that has an inbuilt projector and screen, or stylish drinks receptions in our newly refurbished Ambassador Lounge.
