- The Alexandra Theatre opened in 1901 but was largely rebuilt in 1935 in the art deco style. Additional buildings providing a new facade and improved public areas were added in the 1960s.
- The theatre has presented a wide range of shows including drama, musicals and opera. In 1952 the original production of The Mousetrap opened at the theatre prior to its 61 year London run.
- Under ATG’s management highlights have included musicals such as Spamalot, The Rocky Horror Show, Grease, Ghost, Let It Be, West Side Story, Midnight Tango, the National Theatre’s production of One Man, Two Guvnors starring James Corden and Jersey Boys on its first UK tour.
The Alexandra is a traditional theatre with 1398 seats over three levels. The venue lends itself to larger scale events, conferences, photo shoots & location work as well as more intimate gatherings in the beautiful Ambassador Lounge or newly refurbished Piano Bar. The theatre has hosted events on every scale including three seasons of Britain’s Got Talent public auditions.
